Braamfontein Cemetery Germiston.
« on: Monday 20 February 23 11:16 GMT (UK) »
I have a relative who died in 1958 in Germiston and was cremated at Braamfontein Cemetery on 22th September 1958 according to the death certificate from Familysearch .
It states that his ashes were " taken " but doesn't say by whom .
Does anyone know how I could find out more information,
Thank you.
Also are there any census that were taken during 1920 and 1950.

Just googled about the census which weren't taken until 1996 .

Who was the informant on the death notice?  If it was a family member, possibly they took them to be placed in a Wall of Remembrance.  Have you looked for a plaque for your relative? If you find one, possibly the cemetery would have a record of who paid to have it erected.

You wont find any Census records in South Africa - they routinely destroy the records once the data has been aggregated.

Maybe a family member took the ashes and distribute them somewhere, its not uncommon my Grandfathers ashes were thrown into the sea at his request
