I'm so tired - just got back in after 12 hour shift.  Some people wearing the black and white shirts in town but there was a very subdued air round Newcastle.  I heard that we have lost at the football. :-\
Very cold with drizzle rain.

Thanks folks re my trip, bruises now going through the 40 shades of green and thankfully reasonably comfortable movement mostly.

Harking back to Shrove Tuesday, there was an interesting item on one of our 'magazine' like shows after the news on the day about a NZ company doing very well in the production and success of their pancakes, here and abroad. They were more like the type in chain style restaurants, saucer sized and thickish and more pikelet looking but no doubt easier to flip and bag etc in the automation process, so all good. What got me was the number of times before it screened every ad break hours before in the lead up was only the mention of it being International Pancake Day each time “On our show today/ coming up/ after the break etc “ and  understandable that it would coincide with the significance of the date but no reference at all and perhaps avoiding a religious element …  until they were signing off at end of show and one with a stack of said pancakes covered and dripping in chocolate looking toppings and with a mouth full it came out as“ that's it from us on 'Trove Tuesday!

It's one of the few times in a year I make pancakes anyway, as for toppings tend to have the lemon and sprinkle of sugar handy but family have always liked a syrup option as well. Himself asked  if we had any Maple syrup, not restocked since rarely used but found a wee souvenir bottle bought in the US many years ago tucked away in the drinks cupboard as humorously labelled with references to a mock whisky … and still good! As the cook, first pancake is the trial one of course, same with pikelets,  and I tend to have that rolled up and it's slightly buttery as it comes out of the pan. If it makes the plate then it covers the whole plate or maybe folded once, and very light on sweetness or fruit for me. …. the question was asked, lol.

On that note, can sign off the week and start the new thread for Monday ...

Thank you for letting us know you are okay Pinetree, this is good to hear from you. :)

I'm glad for you that weather is sunny where you are.  It's cold with lack lustre sunshine here.  I have heard people saying we might be getting snow in March.  We'll see.  I have a back shift later today.  Still feeling tired from yesterday.

Hope the bruising clears Mare and movement gets back to normal soon.  Take care. :-*
I like maple syrup and lemon juice on pancakes.  Yes, I think first one always the trial one.  Home made much better than store bought.

LM, archives was always bustling up to pre covid.  Yes, thankfully so much online now but I think so many hidden gems in archives still worldwide waiting to be uncovered/dug up.
Personally, I think our Archives is not as user friendly and it is this which is putting people off.  Booking 7 week days ahead, having to look up references and pre order online.  And now you have to be escorted in and out.  Staff were even obliged to escort me out when I went to toilet!  Not everyone likes filling in online forms - I don't.  And if you get a 'lead' it is frustrating you cannot order the item straightaway as you could in days of old, as in 2019.  If there was some explanation about why things are more difficult this might help.  As it is I am at a loss to understand why things not back to normal.
Up to covid I could just turn up and order things at whim.
Well, that's my gripe of day over. ;)
Must go now to prepare early lunch as will have to set off for work soon.
