Can you tell us about the Courtney family in Newfoundland?  Who in particular are you looking for?
You span 100 years in your question and I do see Courtney entries in the Buford (and other Shropshire) parish registers.

There was a Charles Courtney born in 1796 and a brother William birth date unknown
