Leslie C GREEN married Minnie H STEVENS in Brentford RD in Jun qtr 1919.

Trying to find out what the C stands for so I can find his birth, and possibly death. Does not appear to be on the 1921 census.

Do not need anything on Minnie as I have her details. She was born in New Zealand in 1877, and had returned to NZ by 1931, and died in NZ in 1968. NZ Electoral Rolls have her initially as married but no sign of Mr Green so not sure that he came to NZ with her. She was still in London in 1927.

There were some Leslie C GREENs in NZ after 1931 but they were not Minnie's husband.

Might not be her as age a bit out.  Her birth September 1878.  It might depend when she booked the ticket?

Get a copy of the marriage certificate it may give his age, and will definitely tell you his fathers name,

so you can sort out all the Leslie C Green/Leslie Green

There are only two birth registrations on freebmd,1875-1900 London & Middlesex, GRO will give the mothers maiden name, I think  the point made about Minnie's birth year needs to be answered, married at 42 if 1877 is correct?

In 1921, Minnie Howard Green petitioned for restitution of conjugal rights against Leslie Carman Green (this indicates that he was living apart from her "without good reason" and at the time she may have needed this in place to file for divorce)

Thanks everyone.

She was older than him by a few years by the look of it, and possibly knew each other in Palmerston North before heading off to WW1. Perhaps the reason why they split up, he found out how much older than him she was.

Looks like his sister came to NZ as well and was also in Palmerston North.

Had found LC Green in NZ but not that marriage news item in the paper, which clinches things.

Can now be closed.
