Power efficient settings in Windows 11
« on: Friday 24 February 23 13:48 GMT (UK) »
This https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/power-efficient-settings-in-windows-11-0d6a2b6b-2e87-4611-9980-ac9ea2175734 talks about new default settings for modern standby devices and for S3 devices. I am not sure which one applies to my new Windows 11 computer. Either way, they seem quite a short time. My computer is a Windows 11 Home Version 22H2.

Which screen etc savings would be best, please, for mine? Thank you.

It depends on how you are using your PC during the day.

If you switch it on and need to use it randomly for five minutes once every two hours, that article is probably suggesting you think about putting the PC to sleep or hibernate when you are away from it.

If you are at the PC for most of the day but might be away from it for an hour then maybe consider switching the monitor off after fifteen minutes of inactivity but leaving the PC running.

I suspect the article is an attempt by Microsoft to make users think more about their energy usage.
