Ann Young, Rochdale
« on: Friday 24 February 23 16:06 GMT (UK) »
I have Thomas Young b 6 Aug 1801, Liverpool. d 10 Jan 1851, School Lane, Rochdale. buried St Chad's. Occupation chairmaker.

Marriage: 28 Sep 1830 St Nicholas, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Thomas Young - Chairmaker, Liverpool
Ann Sloan - Spinster, Liverpool
Married by Banns by: Will. Goddard Offg Curate
    Register: Marriages 1830, Page 13, Entry 777
    Source: LDS Film 1068891

Children:

Elizabeth b 1831 Liverpool
Thomas b 1836 Liverpool d 1837 Rochdale buried St Chad's
Ann b 1838 Liverpool

I *think* Ann (daughter) married Ben England 30 Jul 1860 St Alban's Church, Rochdale. She appears to have died 1914, Oldham. They had 19 children.

I cannot find Ann Young (wife) or either children in the 1851 census. Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks for reading this far......

Presumably the burial you refer to
Burial: 8 Feb 1837 St Chad, Rochdale, Lancashire
Thomas Young - Son of Thomas Young
Age: 1
Abode: Liverpool

Still living in Liverpool 1837, where do you have them in 1841

Thanks Rosie. Yes that is the burial I have.

In 1841 I have them on Little Redfern Street, Manchester.

I believe that is them. I cannot tell on the original if Ann Young's residence is Castle Mill or Castle Hill. I can't find either!

YOUNG, ANN       SLONE
GRO Reference: 1838  D Quarter in LIVERPOOL  Volume 20  Page 352

Given the family circumstances I wonder if Ann went into service at a young age, two possibilities below,

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGP1-197

This looks like the family in 1881.

This seems to be the only one 1881 - 1938

ENGLAND, ANN       76

I read it as Castle Hill

thanks Heywood. Do you know if there was any housing there in the 1860s? Institutions perhaps?

Thanks Colin

Post 1860 marriage is all well covered.

The 1851 census from Rochdale looks quite promising.....now to find what happened to sister and mother!
