Locating a grave in Surfleet
« on: Saturday 25 February 23 20:38 GMT (UK) »
Good evening all,

According to the National Burial Index, my ancestor David White was buried in Surfleet in 1886.

Can anyone tell me how I would be able to locate his grave, please?

Many thanks in advance,

GaznDon

Does the NBI give you a cemetary location & grave number?

NBI suggests St Lawrence - as transcribed by Lincolnshire FHS.

ADDED:  And confirmed by the parish register entry on 18 December 1886 - abode given as Risegate, Surfleet. - Image available on FindMyPast.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thank you so much everyone.

His four-year-old grandson is buried in the same churchyard - I wonder if they are together. His name was George David Allen. 😓

Possibly not in the same grave - George David was buried 23 December 1881, aged 4 and so 5 years before his grandfather.  :-\

Thank you again everyone. ☺️

I've now contacted the church wardens, and await their reply.

I hope there's a memorial, whatever condition it's in! 🤞
