Commonwealth War Graves Commission are appealing for relatives of Lieutenant John Sherman Franey - Royal Artillery - service no 80362 - - died 16/2/1940 - buried Effingham (Our Lady of Sorrows) Roman Catholic Churchyard.

Son of John Sharman and of Mary Ethelind Franey. Awarded the Military Cross (London Gazette 31st May 1918). Died aged 46 years.

The private memorial marking the grave of Lt Franey know longer provides adequate commemoration.  The Commission are in the process of producing a new headstone to mark his grave.

Looks like John Sharman Franey was buried with brother Edward Sharman  Franey - 1899 - 1966
Son of John Sharman and Mary Ethelind Franey. Died aged 67 years.
