Emma Thompson
Baptism Date:   15 Mar 1865
Baptism Place:   Wolverhampton, St James, Staffordshire, England
Religion:   Anglican
Father:   William Thompson
Mother:   Rosetta Thompson
Page number:   211

1891    Stoke Upon Trent
Frederick Spendilon   21   Head  potters presser, Longton, Staffs
Emily Spendilon 25   Wife " Flowers, Wolverhampton, Staffs

1901 Hanley
Frederick Spendelow   31   Head, Longton
Emma Spendelow 26   Wife, Wolverhampton (possible error, should read 36?)
Frederick William Spendelow 9

With the connection to the Thompson sisters Rosetta (1911 census) and Mary Ann (both named on probate, as posted by maddy) it is a good possibility Emma Thompson was his mother.

Thanks for all this info.

Looking on FindMyPast and the marriages of Emma Thompson mentioned above:

1) in the potential marriage to a William Wright in 1882 at St Peter’s Stoke On Trent, William is described as a Clerk and his father, also William Wright is a proprietor of a colliery!  Both were living in Vale Street.
2) in the marriage between Emma Wright and Frederick Spendilow in Normacot in 1888, both are potters and she describes herself as a spinster and her father is stated as William Wright a labourer (not Thompson!)

If she did marry William, did he die before 1888.  I cannot see a William Wright as a colliery proprietor in earlier registers though.

What was the occupation for her father in 1882? Who were witness for both marriage?

Maybe the 2nd marriage was bigamy and details where obscured? Or WW died, possible birth of son to couple added in reply #8

Who really knows, can only post details of what maybe connects to facts given.

Maybe DNA testing would help? Just a thought...

I cannot see a William Wright as a colliery proprietor in earlier registers though.

There is a William WRIGHT, colliery owner and agent of Wolverhampton mentioned in regards a new venture at Frieston Shore.
Friday,  Mar. 4, 1881
Publication: Stamford Mercury

Also a William WRIGHT elected to a seat on the board of the Sharlston Colliery in 1900.

Not sure that it helps at all, but just shows that there was at least one of that name.
