The death certificate for one of the children (William Robert Stacey) who died in 1941 shows Leslie W Stacey came from England.

Trying to work out the birth years was my reason for asking PB.  :)

There is another one though... and again Leslie says he is born England.  He also spelled his wife's maiden name as "Ausburne", so he isn't great at names!

William Robert   1941

Marion Isabell    1945
https://archives.novascotia.ca/vital-statistics/death/?ID=343642

Both have something written after Leslie's name in the informant box.  Can anyone make it out? He shows in the ER's as a painter, but I don't think that's it.

As far as I can see, he is remembering his parents first names close, but not right, (as in he has the initials right!), and for some unknown reason, thought he was born in Canada for the longest time.

There is no Frederick Stacey/Edna Chivers combination is any documentation that I can find in any country, nor Leslie William Stacey on any Canadian census, etc. other than his marriages, and the children's records born here.
I am 99.9% sure Leslie William Stacey IS Wilfred Leslie Stacey from Somerset.

I agree with you bbart and I think he was probably a home child.  Perhaps that could be a reason for poor memory or not knowing.  :-\

Haven't a clue what it says after the father's name  :-\

I like you was just about certain that the person that married Mary Elizabeth Osborne was my uncle Wilfred Leslie Stacey.
The the other marriage!
I would be good if a contact could be maid with any cousins who might have a little more detail.
Thanks
Alan

Alan, do you know much about Frank and Emma Jane Stacey, (parents of Wilfred Leslie)?
In the 1921 UK census, there does not seem to be any children with them.  Something happened to that family; any clues might help!

Hold on, just found something....
I will have to transcribe it, so give me a few minutes!  (so I don't get my fingers slapped for copyright things!)

The 1921 census reveals this.
Wilfred Leslie Stacey and his younger sister Mollie Irene Stacey are inmates in an institution in Glastonbury. There parents are also living in Glastonbury.
My mum Dorothy Lily Stacey 1904 to 1981 is in a girls home near London.
My Mum never spoke her earlier life. I think now it was too painful for her.
Leonard Charles Chivers/Stacey has left Somerset and working on the fishing fleet out of Fleetwood.
Hope that helps.
Please keep asking
Alan
