Schooner "Reindeer" 1870s
« on: Saturday 04 March 23 00:37 GMT (UK) »
Searching for information re identity of Captain of Ship "Reindeer" (see attached last three lines
has the Masters name as Campbell).  Would three entries indicate three voyages with this Captain?    He was Master of this ship in 1879 when it sailed from Charcuche (France?) to Sydney, Australia with the Captain and a passenger named Elizabeth Campbell.

Kind regards

Are you seeing the Master and Captain to be two different people?

I think the Master of the "Reindeer" is Captain CAMPBELL?

Good morning Wivenhoe,
Thanks for your comment.   It was suggested the Reindeer Captain (Campbell) was my Great Grand father.  Kay99 reply established this Capt. Campbell is not my Ancestor.   My search continues.
Thanks everyone for your fantastic help
Kind regards

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

What particular bit of information in Kay99's reply tells you that the John Campbell who was master of the 'Reindeer' in 1879 isn't your man?

I think this early thread may relate to the John Campbell that clancam37 is researching https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=172301.msg1489976#msg1489976
