Amused myself by having a look at the shipping intelligence in the online newspapers. Captain Campbell and Reindeer fairly got around.

In 1876 she sailed Bristol - Newport (Monmouthshire) - Lisbon- Palermo - Marsala - Tarragona - Montreal - Aberdeen - Dundee - North Shields - Tarragona - Denia - Montreal - Queenstown - Liverpool etc.

In 1879 Liverpool - Charente - Melbourne - Newcastle (NSW) - Rockhampton - Newcastle (NSW) - Colombo - London

Her owner was Mr W Thomson, Dundee.

Are you sure that Elizabeth Campbell was a passenger rather than the Captain's wife?

I think this early thread may relate to the John Campbell that clancam37 is researching
<Sigh>

Thanks, Kay99.

Are there any more threads about this John Campbell, before I go on duplicating what others have done?

We still need John Campbell's father's name from his marriage certificate.

Known facts about John Campbell

He was aged 45 and born in Scotland (from 1871 census)
He was born at Longleys, Perth (his seaman's ticket)
His father was Donald or was it Duncan (marriage certificate)

Someone else looking for the same John Campbell

I think this is approaching an answer (though with all the different threads I'm actually unsure what the question is).
