Looking for birth details, parents of John Bennett born Auburn Parish, Lanark, Lanarkshire about 1887.  He served in the Royal Navy for about 6 years before migrating to Australia and enlisting (August 1915) in WW1 in the Australian Army -- 17th Battalion, Ist AIF   Service No: 2568.

John BENNETT died 18 Nov 1953 in Redfern. On the NSW BMD Index, his father is named as Denis.
Did he marry? What information is on his marriage certificate about his parents?

On his WW1 service records, his next of kin is given as his Aunt Sarah Dogherty, Ferry St, Portferry, Ireland

EDIT. No,  His military record say “Anderson”, but this should most probably be ANDERSTON - an area in Glasgow, north of the Clyde.

When I look at the NAA service file for the John BENNETT, referred to above, I see his death stated as 18/11/1954. I cannot locate an Australian death which quite fits.

There is an error on the last page (39) where is death year is given as 1954.

It was actually 1953.

This is the only birth I can see in Anderston, although there are a few other possibilities in the Glasgow area.
