Sarah Ann Farrant Walter
« on: Saturday 04 March 23 18:30 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a connection with Suffolk for this unmarried lady.  She was alive in 1878 and selling some mill machinery in Ipswich in that year, and appears to have died in Fulham, London in 1914.  I'm trying to establish how she came by the property in Belle Vue, Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, and am hoping it may have come via a rellie?

Thanks in advance,
Windy

Hi Crisane,

Firstly, a big thanks!!!

So, it seems that S.A.F. Walter owned the Lunatic Asylum at Bellvue House in 1874?
And that she was the niece of James and Mary Shaw (back in 1851).

Is that correct?  I’m a bit dyslexic and find these things a bit convoluted.

Yes, except that she was the niece by blood family of Mary F Shaw and the niece of James Shaw by his marriage to Mary F Walter.

Have to leave it for now. Will come back to it later.

So to me it seems likely that she inherited the Bellvue site from her aunt (or uncle) as they lived at Bellvue House.

Thanks,
Windy
