William Ship married Mary Brown in 1796 in Barking Sufflok (not far from Baylham). Might be the marriage

There are 2 baptisms for Sarah Ship, both with the same parents, so I guess the first one in 1796 died at some point (can't find a death on the Suffolk records though) and then - as was quite common - they gave another daughter the same name.

1. Sarah Ship, parents James (a labourer) and Ann, born 26 September (late Farrant, St.Botolphs), baptised 30 October 1796 at St Mary's Parish Church, Haverhill, Suffolk.  (I have no idea what late Farrant, St Botolphs means)

2. Sarah Ship, parents James and Ann, born 1st August (late Farrant), baptised 1 September 1805, St Mary's Parish Church, Haverhill, Suffolk.  (Again no idea what late Farrant means).

Sarah 1805 possibly married Henry Whiting in Haverhill in May 1832. Henry remarries in 1835 and there is a burial for a Sarah Whiting b abt 1805 in Sept 1832

Found Sarah's baptism while browsing through the Rendham independent records on FindMyPast. Ship is not clearly written - "S" nearly faded away

"Baptised Sarah the daughter of William Ship and Mary his wife of the parish of Snape in the county of Suffolk (born on the 29th of Oct ???) was baptised on the 9th day of March 1801 by me Rich Wearing Protestant Dissenting Minister"

Year of birth a bit unclear but likely to be 1800 judging from the sequence of William and Mary's other children

Can't find William Ship's death / burial, but last child baptised in 1805. (Excluding Thomas who seems to have been fathered by someone else)

That's what I saw, but if the minister started writing 17.. (for 1799) then remembered it was 1800, it might have come out looking like 1780. There doesn't seem to be a William and Mary couple in Snape that would have a child in 1780.
Baptisms seem to start with Mary in 1799, but she died as an infant. A later Mary Ann Ship 1805 was the mother of Emily Lucock,  who appears with Mary Ship in 1841 and 1851 (grandaughter in 1851)

I think the parish clerk (who would have written out the record) put the date of birth in precisely because it was an adult baptism.
