David HARBINSON WW1 1920
« on: Sunday 05 March 23 16:30 GMT (UK) »
DAVID HARBINSON died on 4 April 1920 after serving with the Royal Defence Corps. David lived at 59 Gaffikin Street with his wife Esther (nee McIlwaine)and children Mary Ann (1909), Robert (1912), David (1915) and Margaret (1918). He was aged 36 at the time of his death. There is some evidence that he may have served previously with the Northumberland Fusiliers.
The 1956 Street Directory shows a Mrs E Harbinson - probably his widow - still living in 59 Gaffikin Street.
David Harbinson was Presbyterian. So far I have found no trace of a burial record in the Belfast cemeteries.
Can anyone help to identify his place of burial?

There is a death in the 1987 of an Esther Harbinson of the same address and children with two of those names and clearly quite elderly given she appears to have quite a few great grandchildren so I assume she is his wife and she is buried in Drumbo Presbyterian Churchyard, David is likely there as well.

Sinann.  That is top-grade information!  Thank you. Are you able to tell me the source of the info re Drumbo? I will follow up with  The Presbyterian Church.

There is some evidence that he may have served previously with the Northumberland Fusiliers.

Per his army records, he served with Royal Irish Fusiliers 1900-1914, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers 1914-1917, Northumberland Fusiliers 1917-1918, and RDC 1918-1919.
