I want to confirm that Agnes Neilson is not the mother of the James Thompson who died 1891 NSW

I am now totally confused.

Who is your starting point?

If it's the death in 1891 of the son of Agnes Tervit/Tarbert, where does Agnes Neilson come into it?

Alternatively, if you are looking for the death of Agnes Neilson's son, where does Agnes Tarbert/Tervit fit in?

This James Thomson could be the son of William Thomson and Jean Graham
Baptized 19 May 1818 Kirkmaiden By Drummore, Wigtown, Scotland

Can you be sure that the James Thom*son, born Kirkmaiden, age said to be 32 in 1851 and 41 in 1861, married to Janet/Jessie McDowall and living in Inch in 1851 and Stoneykirk in 1861, isn't the one you said you were looking for, whose mother was Agnes Neilson?

Yes, could be.

Have you got any evidence to be sure?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Clearly she is not, since you have a completely different surname for the mother of the one who died in NSW, and a likely-looking baptism to match.

Forfarian, thanks for your help.

It looks like he is the son of Agnes Neilson.

James Thomson died 1882, age 64. Parents Christian names and mother's maiden name are not provided.
His wife is Jessie McDowall, deceased. Informant is son James Thomson
THOMSON JAMES 64 ----- M 1882 894 / 32 OLD LUCE OR GLENLUCE

I have copies of all census 1841 to 1881, 1851 to 1881 have his birth place as Kirkmaiden

There is a 32-year-old James Thomson, born Kirkmaiden, in the 1851 census at Craigcaffie, Inch, Wigtownshire who would fit the one born in Kirkmaiden.

He's married to Jessie and has six daughters. I think Jessie is Janet McDowall.

They are in Stoneykirk in 1861.

Can you be sure that this isn't the son of Agnes Neilson?
