great g/m Gillard

I have a death cert which shows my grt g/mother died in 1899 at the Union Workhouse Merthyr Tydifl, but am wondering if there is a way to find out how long she resided there.
Can anyone give suggestions, please.       Many thanks

She may have died in the Workhouse Infirmary, and not necessarily an inmate of the Workhouse itself. Poorer people normally would use Infirmaries as their local hospital,

NON-MAINTENANCE. — ...Frederick and William Gillard, labourers, were summoned for the maintenance of their mother, Mary Ann Gillard, now chargeable to the Union. Mr Richards said defendants had made an offer to contribute 1s 6d per week each, which he was prepared to accept. The Bench made an order accordingly.

I'm wondering if the parish from which admitted was AberCynon
