Thank you for the reply. Don't think they were married as can't find a marriage anywhere for them. I can understand if they weren't married that both of their surnames would be indexed but there are two surnames & a maiden surname? Kind Regards

Could be an unmarried couple, but where the mother is (or has been) married to someone else.... there are lots of possibilities, and you can't be sure just from the index entries.

Thank you all for your help. I don't know if any are still alive so won't post their details. Some are younger than my Mum & she is still alive & kicking at 98!

Hi Sossie

This may be an example of a double barrelled surname, so the entry will be indexed under each name. I guess an example might be Mary Smith Jones. It'll be indexed under both Smith and Jones.
