Joy, I think it's time you rang the HP service help line, they won't bite I promise! While the other's are giving you very good advise on how to look after your battery life, they are not getting the error message you are getting, so far everything you have tried has not cleared the message.

It maybe HP have had several calls on this very same error and know how to fix the problem, they will talk you through the steps on how to clear the problem if it is software related.

You have a 2 year warranty for hardware issues BUT free software help/support is only 3 months.
If you bought it in a shop, you could take it back there and get them to sort it out for you. (please remember not to have anything personal/photos/statements/banking apps etc on the laptop though)

(P.S. I used to work for HP as a technical engineer on their helpline but not laptops and technology has moved on a long way since I left there)

Please acknowledge when a restorer works on your photos, it can take hours for them to work their magic

Please scan at 300dpi minimum to help save the restorers eyesight.

Just quickly googled and HP already have a help page for Battery Calibration

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_6798672-6170254-16

start by going through the first option suggest.. it is in step by step format.

Test the battery using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows (preferred method)

Thank you. My computer does not have that. I shall download it and have a try.

I did as suggested, and everything passed.

I bought it directly from HP. I'll contact them next week.

As suggested, I contacted HP and was told:
"You need to charge the battery to 100%. Unplug the charger. Drain battery to until it gets shut down.
Wait for 30 minutes.
Again charge the battery to 100%.  Unplug the charger. Drain battery to until it get shut down.
You need to repeat this process at least 2-3 times."

I have done it once and am no longer being notified that it needs calibrating.

I was told to "do it again one more time for better performance of the laptop.".

Also, HP said today "I would like to inform you that you can perform this battery calibration for at least 4 times in a year for better performance of the battery."
