Tyneside marriage look-up please
« on: Wednesday 08 March 23 14:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone.. I am new to this site and research in general. I am hoping someone could look-up a marriage for me. 1913, 2nd Quarter, Tyneside (somwhere), Robert Norman (my relation) and Isabella Moncur Bradford. She was born a Walker and married a James Bradford who died in 1908. She then marries Robert Norman 1913. I hope I can confirm who Robert's father is etc.

Thank you in anticipation... Ivor.

To look up a marriage you need to know which church it was in.  If it was a civil marriage - it can’t be looked up

It was in the Tynemouth RD - here are the areas covered by that RD

Marriage locator states -

GRO Index: 1913 quarter 2, volume 10b, page 554:
Sorry, we cannot locate the church for this marriage. The entry is located between entries for Seghill Holy Trinity (RD: Tynemouth) and Patterdale St Patrick (RD: West Ward).

According to a tree on Ancestry his parents are Isaac Norman and Jane Byers.  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Working backwards from 1939 register Robert was born 1885. !921 census records pob as Carlisle.

Birth registration would suggest he was illegitimate.

I'd also just looked at the 1939 Register and come to the conclusion that the Ancestry tree might be incorrect.

Purchase of the marriage certificate would be the best way forward.

ivor56,
whilst we have been unable to answer your post re who is named as Robert's father it is certainly not Isaac and mother  Jane as per the tree on Anc.  The marriage certificate MAY name a father but it could be made up. If you have enough pennies his birth certificate would at least name his mother allowing further research.
