I have been using version 8 and have put all my families under one name 4 families in total I now find I can have 4 separate family tree's, my question is can I make the four separate tree's and then delete the one that I made in the beginning without losing any of my ancestors in the separate tree's

Please note - this is a forum called RootsChat.
Not linked to RootsMagic in any way.

The answer to your question is that you can as many trees as you like in RootsMagic (I have about 15!).
The data is held separately; so it is possible to have a Joe Bloggs in every tree.
