I have th right marriage certificate for Sarah to John Bonam in 1888
So she is living with her husband as Sarah Bonam in 1891 and 1911 and as mentioned the census says born in costock. Seems there might be 2 Sarah Ann Dexter.  As mentioned by someone.  If she is illegitimate that might explain living with grandparents in 1871.

Think 1858 is too early and in Basford.  Marriage in 1888 says she is 23. Which makes it 1865

Are there 2  Sarah Ann Dexter on that census in 1871.  That could be the 2 born 1864 and 1868

Are there 2  Sarah Ann Dexter on that census in 1871.  That could be the 2 born 1864 and 1868

1871 census Nelson Street, only gives the initial 'A' for Sarah Dexter age 7 (born 1864 Basford) and Sarah Ann Dexter age 3 (born 1868 Basford)

1881 census 24 Nelson Street only one Sarah A Dexter age 16 (1865 Basford), occ Lace Dresser with her grandmother Sarah

Sarah A Dexter age 22 born (1869 Basford) appears to be on 1891 census with her parents William & Eliza (nee Robinson) living Bailey Street

Really confused now
So I have 1871 census showing with parents and grandmother.  But following that through she is still living with them in 1891 and 1901. Can’t be as married

Also I have a Sarah Ann Dexter living with grand parents in 1871 in costock.  No way of knowing?

Unless that one is the 1864 illegitimate child and the one with parents and grand parents is the Robinson mmn

Have you considered this Sarah?

The 1871 Costock for a 5 year old Sarah A Dexter has her living with John Dexter (Wid)  and his daughter Ann
RG10
Piece number 3259
Folio 25
Page 11

Your Sarah Ann Dexter pob consistently Costock born c 1866

1924 death Sarah Ann Bonam age 58 (1866)
1921 Sarah A Bonam      born 1866 Costock
1911 Sarah Ann Bonam  born  1865 Costock, assisting in business
1901 Sarah A Bonam      born 1866 Costock
1891 Sarah A Bonam      born 1866 Costock
1881 Sarah A Dexter      born 1866 Costock, servant

1888 Sarah Ann Dexter age 23 (1865), no occupation, 3 Cowan Street
married John Bonam his father was also named William and both deceased
Witnesses Reuben & Sarah Griffin
There's a Reuben & Sarah Griffin on 1891 census, a child named Reuben age 3 his mmn Bonam

If Sarah was daughter of William & Eliza nee Robinson he was still alive

If Sarah was an illegitimate child did she just give the same father’s name as John Bonam  :-\ and is she the Sarah on the 1871 census posted by Rosie - possible mother Ann Dexter  ???

GRO Reference: 1866  J Quarter in LOUGHBOROUGH  Volume 07A  Page 131

Loughbro' is an alternative name for Loughborough and it spans the boundaries of the counties of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire

Hi ladyhawk, my head hurts today in more ways than one.

Are we of the thought that one of the Sarah Ann Dexter's either born 1864 or 1868 Basford (Costock) is the Sarah who married 1888. It would seem it is not the one born 1868 with mmn Robinson as 1891 census shows she is still with her parents.

Is this a silly scenario?

The Sarah Ann who married William Truman in 1887 with no father recorded went on to marry John Bonam in 1888. I can find no evidence of any Truman/Dexter births after 1887 or William/Sarah after their marriage.
