« on: Friday 10 March 23 22:04 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know if there is the equivalent of Scotland's People in Canada where I can buy credits/see a relative's death certificate.  He died in 1934.
Thanks v much.

Unfortunately there is not. Privacy laws are very strict in Canada. Each province looks after their own records and imposes its own restrictions. Montreal is in Quebec province. This link will give you info about ordering a cert from Quebec…5 pages.

The burial record should be found on line in the Drouin Collection on Ancestry and I think the familysearch website. It will not generally have the cause of death.

ADDED: someone may correct me but I think since full civil registration only began in 1994 that perhaps an application might only get you a copy of what is in the burial record, which, as noted above, should be available on line.

We search for information but it is up to the thread owner to verify that it is correct.

The "closest" site to being like Scotlandspeople is probably https://www.genealogiequebec.com/en/  where the smallest subscription is for 24 hours.
