Does the price £2 refer to what you paid for it?
Carol

No, that was the original balance due which I have actually seen on several photos from that period.
Must have been the going rate around 1890.

This one was only about $11 from a thrift store auction.
The frame is in sad condition, but I'll clean it up a bit, and add a new backboard and hardware.
Hopefully to keep it alive for a few more decades.
It's an odd hobby.

Oh ok,  not that odd really. I collect old photos with names on then find a matching tree on Ancestry and send them a copy. Sometimes I post the original if they are really keen to have it.

Note she is not wearing a wedding band, so maybe not married?

Cas

Or possibly, the artist who sketched over the enlargement missed the ring when doing the hands?
Wild guess of course.

I think with details of buttons, cross and specs included there would be a wedding band if there was one.

On the back the name Mary P.... Bloomfield is likely, have you viewed your other thread for replies or given thoughts?

I looked through Familysearch.org for several hours at many Bloomfields, but nothing seemed right.
With Mary & John being such common names and the state they came from unknown, an exact match may not be possible.
