Can someone help to determine the birthplace of Charles Evans, please, who according to the 1880 census was born in Illinois.

The 1880 Census for Streator, La Salle, Illinois shows the following:
John Evans  self  48  coal miner  Wales
Elizabeth  wife  30  Keeping House  Wales
George  son  11 school  Wales
Eden  son  09  school  Wales
Charlie  son  03  b. Illinois.
anything and everything to do with the village of Brithdir, near New Tredegar in Gwent.

The 1890 census was mostly destroyed, so it's probably not available for them.
