Can you search for a birth record by birth date only?

I think so, but you would get a huge number of returns to search through.

I'm not aware of any facility to search Scotlands People other than by name/birthyear/location

To search by actual full birthdate does not appear to be an option

Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

I don't know about the range of options for a personal search at a SP genealogy centre, but online you do need to search with a main surname...then the year (with no option for an actual date to be included on the search).

I have a possible birth date but I am now thinking name could be different.  If I could search that birth date I would possibly have better luck at detection!

The birth date that you have may not be accurate

Do you know the maiden name of the baby's mother?

Thank you for replying.  I have been on here previously extensive cooperation from everyone and we traced her at aged 6 and she was an adopted daughter. I can track her up until her death its just previously.  Maybe I need to start a new thread on it.

No.

The reason why you can't is that actual dates within the year have never been included in the indexes, so it's not a case of the search not having been set up, but a case of the information not being readily available to be searched on.

You can't search by year either without at least one other piece of information - which could be surname or given name or county or parish/registration district.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

No, no, no, please don't start new threads about the same people! By all means continue an older thread, but proliferation of threads about the same people leads to confusion and duplication of effort.

Also, if you continue an old thread, everyone who contributed to that is notified, whereas if you start a new one they may not see it.

Are these the previous threads you mean?
