Burial of Thomas Butler
« on: Tuesday 14 March 23 19:36 GMT (UK) »
Thomas Butler was born about 1788 in Denby, he appears on the census from 1841-1861 in Heage, his wife and sister are buried there, but no sign of Thomas the closest I can find is Little Eaton. I am wondering  if there was a workhouse or some sort of Home in Little Eaton  The age is out  but close enough.

Hi,

I don't think that is your Thomas, there is a Thomas BUTLER aged 68 living in Little Eaton in 1861, he is not there in 1871.

Regards,
Daisy

Is this the Thomas you mention?

Thomas BUTLER   Baptism   16 Jun 1788   Derbyshire   Denby : St Mary : Parish Register
Father John

As Thomas does not seem to be on the 1871 census, below are the only two death registrations in the County, I would have expected the district to be Belper and the ages may be slightly incorrect but that might be due to the person who reported the event.
Did he have children elsewhere, could he have moved out of Derbyshire?

BUTLER, THOMAS     (1792)   72

BUTLER, THOMAS    (1783)   82
GRO Reference: 1865  M Quarter in WORKSOP, UNION  Volume 07B  Page 25

Thank you for your interest. I think the 1864 Shardlow is the burial at Little Eaton. I have not been able to find any children for Thomas and his sibliings are deceased. He may have moved , he was something to do with stone cutting but I am not sure where else this was an occupation apart from Derbyshire.
