William Boyes Wigan abt. 1596

I'm looking for information on William Boyes born Wigan abt. 1596. I have his Father as Robert Boyes and Mother Jane. I have them in my tree but not sure if I have them down correct. I also have a marriage for William Boyes to Catherine Anderton in 1614. I would be grateful for any other information. Thanks

I can see that a William Boyes married Catherine Anderton on 14th June 1614 in Wigan, Lancashire.

I can find the following children born to a William Boyes in Wigan in the years following:
Alice (1616)
Robert (1617)

The baptism you have mentioned (16th July 1596 in Wigan) would make William approximately 18 when he married - unless he was not baptised as an infant - which is rather young, but the eldest son was often named after the father so that could be seen as supporting evidence for this being the correct baptism.

Other than William in 1596, I cannot see another child born to Robert in the Wigan area. There is no mention of the mother's name on the parish register, and I cannot find a marriage between a Robert and a Jane.

The Wigan All Saints register seems to start in 1580, so it will be virtually impossible to get further back than that without wills or land records.
