Salloway baptisms recorded twice.
« on: Wednesday 15 March 23 16:40 GMT (UK) »
I have been trying to trace a Salloway family connected with Wombourn(e), Staffordshire in the 1700s.

I have found a number of baptisms recorded in Wombourn(e). However I am also finding that some of these baptisms with the same name, the same parents and the same date are also listed as taking place in Yoxall, Staffordshire.

I don't understand how these two places can be connected and would appreciate some suggestions.

Are these just transcripts you are looking at  :-\.   I can see images for the surname in Yoxall parish registers on FindMyPast

Yes, I can only see the transcripts not the actual images. Both Ancestry and Find My Past have a number of baptisms registered at both Yoxall and Wombourn in the 1700s. I don't understand the connection.

I can't see Womborne register images online, maybe someone else can.

The transcripts for that parish on FindMyPast are from familysearch, it would not be the first time that I have found errors like that in their transcripts.

Examples of baptisms recorded in both Wombourn and Yoxall

Benjamin 9th June 1734  parents Thomas and Elizabeth
William 15th September 1754 parents Thomas and Mary
Humphrey 13th May 1753 parents Samuel and Hannah
John 13th August 1758 parents Samuel and Hannah
Elizabeth 20th May 1758 parents Thomas and Mary

And the one I have been trying to trace, which is slightly different
Hannah 12th July 1776 at Wombourn and 19th July at Yoxall. Her father is not clear in the Wombourn record: Yoxall records it as Thomas but her mother is Ann in both cases.
Without seeing the actual records I can't be sure if this is a correct transcription.
