We know that his father has Scottish roots, which could equally apply to an American or British Soldier.

However, there was a unit of The Kings Own Scottish Borderers around Truro in 1942, which is of interest.

 you might just have solve a riddle for me . My friend HAS done DNA and has q Cornish ethnicity and a Scottish from his father's side

I hadnt thought to look for soldiers + I'm looking at an earlier year .

Have you made any progress
You can't access baptisms for 1942 unfortunately as they often contain extra clues

Does your cousin have middle names which could be a clue to his birth father ?.
