The ABEL family of ELGIN
« on: Monday 20 March 23 20:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I am looking for any information on the ABEL family. My parents -in Law, (both deceased) were married at Holy Trinity Church Elgin. Margaret (Peggy) ABEL (my mother -in-law) married my father - in law, Norman Arthur LEGGAT, on Wednesday 16/04/1941. The bride's parents were, Mr. & Mrs. James ABEL of 28 Maisonbien Road, ELGIN. Any information would be most welcome & appreciated. Thank you !

It would be helpful if you could provide more information.
Where and when was Margaret Abel born?
Where and when did she die?
Exactly what information about her and her parents is on her marriage and death records?
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

23 references to Abels at http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp

For originals of all Scottish birth/baptism, marriage, death and census records see www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

BTW it's Maisondieu not Maisonbien. From French for 'House of God' and commemorates an ancient and long-vanished religious house.

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Margaret Abel's 1941 marriage registration on the SP index shows as Margaret Ann E Abel.

I think this looks like her birth entry:

MAGGIE ANN ELIZ ABEL
1921
201 / 14
Glenmuick, Tullich and Glengairn

You can view the image of the birth registration online on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Possible marriage entry for parents:

JAMES ALEXANDER ABEL
and
ELIZABETH ANDERSON
1920
201 / 4
Glenmuick, Tullich and Glengairn

The 1940 Valuation Rolls for the address you have, 28 Maisondieu Road, ELGIN, show a James A Abel at that address.

If you don't have these docs already, viewing online the 1941 marriage and/or the 1921 birth for Margaret would be a good place for you to start in documenting Margaret's family. Costs are reasonable on SP.

Norman Leggat died in Sussex in 1969?
