Two lost sisters
« on: Wednesday 22 March 23 06:47 GMT (UK) »
I have come to a blank wall regarding these 2 sisters, help please.

Jane Mary Elizabeth Shepherd born 1827 and Ellen Adams Shepherd born 1830 in Almondsbury.  I have a record of their baptisms then nothing. Jane was baptised 1st July 1827 St Mary's Almondsbury and Ellen 2nd of May 1830 at the same church.
Parents were George Shepherd and Sarah Adams
Siblings
Thomas Lovelace Shepherd born 1822
Samuel Lovelace Shepherd born 1824
Hester Ann Shepherd born 1825
John Adams Shepherd born 1830, John and Ellen could be twins but baptised on different dates, maybe Ellen was weak.

Any help would be appreciated

OK, so you know they were around in 1841 then.

Thos. Sheppard 15
Hester 15
Jane 15
Ellen 10

John 10
(remembering that ages were rounded down in 1841. Some enumerators did that for everyone and some only for adults, and still others didn't do it)

what happened to William and Sarah WEBB?

I did have Jane having died in 1843 but unfortunately I did not keep any record, and could not find anything about her death on ancestry so deleted until I could find some record which you have done.

I have just found the 1841 census

So Jane died age 17 sadly.

Sarah Webb of Over age 40 buried Almondsbury 21 Feb 1843.  Is that Sarah?

Have you checked to see where all the other siblings are in 1851(and later)  and ruled out Ellen being with any of them?

Checked all the marriages for sighting of Ellen as a witness?

Yes, Sarah died in 1843.

There is no sign of Ellen visiting/staying with any of her siblings in 1851.
