hanna from drumdreenagh Rathfriland
« on: Thursday 23 March 23 21:53 GMT (UK) »
I am interested in the Hanna family from Rathfriland Co.Down.

William Hanna was from that area and resided in Brookline Mass until his death by rail accident in 1906.

He married Sarah J Corbett in Mass in 1886 stating his Father as John Hanna and mother as Jane Atkins from Drumdreenagh Rathfriland.

In the 1890 naturalization record he stated from Co.Down

Any of the Hanna family interested in my search?

Regards.

From a transcript: 1st Rathfriland Presbyterian Church, Mary Hanna, DOB 6 August 1956, was baptised on 26 June 1857 for parents John White Hanna and Jane 'Aitkins' of Drumdreenagh.  Same church, William Hanna, DOB 31 October 1859, was baptised on 10 October 1871 for parents John White Hanna and Jane 'Atkins' of Cross.

The following looks like a possible marriage for the parents in 1856, both parties were living in Drumdreenagh, both were widowed, the bride's surname from previous marriage was McCracken but her maiden surname was given as 'Atkinson', the two fathers stated as John Hanna and William Atkinson, weavers:

Just a 'maybe' from the PRONI Will Calendars:

Letters of Administration of the personal estate of John White Hanna late of Drumdrinagh County Down Farmer a Widower deceased who died 24 January 1875 at same place were granted at Belfast to Hugh White Hanna of Drumdrinagh (Rathfriland) same County Farmer a Brother of deceased and the Guardian of the Minor Child of said deceased. (Limited).

The above Will Calendars John Hanna's death registration:
