McMahon of Kildysart
« on: Friday 24 March 23 10:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi

My ancestor Michael McMahon was born in Kildysart around 1813 to John McMahon and Ellen. They were Catholics. No one researching him have been able to find what happened to his parents and on ancestry people have copied any record possible as link to him so there not a lot of reliable info. I found the attached article but theres probably a lot of John McMahons and the one writing to the paper may be much younger. Any help would be appreciated.

He married Bridget O'Loughlin (also known as Biddy and Maria) on 18 Jun 1838 • Kildysart, County Clare, Ireland.

When he emigrated to Australia in 1855 with his young family he names his parents as John McMahon and Ellen and they were alive at that time. Bridget names her parents as Thomas O'Loughlin and Mary and they were also alive. Michael and Ellen could read and write.

Im hoping they were still alive to be included in the civil records.

DNA links us to multiple McMahon families. Speculatively some may be sibling to Michael McM.

Patrick McMahon (B1807) who married Mary Reirdy. Patrick moved to the USA. His children born in Kildysart.
Bryan McMahon who married Mary Doyle. Bryan lived in Kilmurry, Co Clare. Its about 38km from Kildysart.
James McMahon (B 1806) who married Bridget Moran. James born in Black Hills, Kildysart. First born son was named Bernard Bryan McMahon.
Ellen McMahon who married John Curtis. They moved to the USA.
