Myron - help with reading certificates
« on: Monday 27 March 23 08:32 BST (UK) »
Hello!
I'm not used to reading old continuous cursive, and also Margaret's married name - all I can work out is Mac

Thanks

There is a marriage of Maggie Myron to Gilbert McMeeking in Glasgow in 1883.

1891 Census in Govan lists Gilbert McMecking, 34, born Castle Douglas, wife Margaret, 30, born Banffshire, and sons Robert, 6 and Charles, 4.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Forfarian - great sleuthing! Tried variants of Myron but didn't try Maggie...

Aye - when looking for an elusive Margaret, always search for Ma*g*

One of my three great-auntie Megs apparently never forgave her father for registering her birth as Maggie instead of Margaret!
