muriel esther lambard 1899-1982
« on: Monday 27 March 23 12:03 BST (UK) »
hi
i have a photo found in my fathers processions
of a green grocers in blundeston name on building is joseph curry. grocer drapery
.
i am thinking my grandparents names were Frank and Muriel Lambard
i am thinking they rang a greengocers in Blundeston and for some reason did not change the name .
i cant see a date on the image . i think it came from a record office my grandfather died in london in 1948 so i am assuming it was earlier than this. i have asked my cousin who thinks they ran a green grocers
it might be under her maiden name of douglas as she was born in Heigham in Norwich
her father was Henry Rudd Douglas .
it would be nice to try and solve why my father was interested in this photo.

You have posted on the Suffolk board but Frank & Muriel were in Essex  in 1939.  You need to check the 1939 register yourself as details that can only be obtained by subscription are not allowed

See freebmd - Frank & Muriel married in Norwich 1923. www.freebmd.org.uk

Use the 1939 register to look for Joseph Curry but there are 107  entries & the highest concentration appears to be in the North East - only one  in Suffolk

Frank died 1948 Hackney but Muriel died 1982 Essex

Your father was either Douglas born 1924 died 2014 Essex
Or Bernard b 1929 died 2020 Essex

Doesn’t appear to be any connection to Suffolk

Both Frank's and Muriel's probates are available at Government wills. Re. any Suffolk link, Frank's entries (1948 and 1882) mention "Ipswich".

Frank lost a leg in a road traffic accident 27 Aug 1932 and awarded £1,314 in damages. Occupation in newspaper reports of the case give occupation of "dairyman". His address was New Street, Brightlingsea.

The 1931 Electoral Roll - Parish of Brightlingsea
Lambard Frank William, 85 New Street
Lambard Muriel Esther, 85 New Street

Cannot reveal details from the 1921 Census but 1 entry for a Frank William Lambard is a good fit for the Frank William to be found on the 1939 register and the newspaper article about the loss of leg.

hi
thank you yes information above  is correct
i know my fathers school was evacuated to Bury St Edmunds
and   i thought Muriels brother was headmaster  at the school.
so i know family has connections in Suffolk.

As i said just wondered why the picture was important to him .
thank you again at the moment i have not seen 1921 census .

By the 1901 Census the Joseph Curry at Blundeston in 1891 has moved to Reedham
ref RG13  1855  82  1  1

Joseph and his wife's details are somewhat inconsistent with 1891 but looks like the family?

Joseph Curry is still at Reedham on the 1911 Census and details somewhat more consistent with 1891.
