Hotel in North Wales
« on: Tuesday 28 March 23 21:13 BST (UK) »
Mum used to visit North Wales when she was a child in the 1920/30 s. She Could not remember where they went but recognised this picture of the hotel. We have searched online and driven around but have not located the building. Does anybody know anything about it?

Hi

It could be in Corwen:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owain_Glynd%C5%B5r

But this one looks larger - maybe extended.

The Corwen - Glyndyfrdwy area was the home of the Glyndwr family - I'm descended from OG's sister Lowri.

Thanks Gadget,
Think this is one I found in my online search but I will put it on the list for a visit later.

Mike,
Yes there is some similarity there, definitely on the visit list.

The Mold one does look more like it, Mike.  The slope on the road is very distinct.

PS - maybe they were on the way to the coast at Rhyl

I think Mike has nailed it. Apart from the similarities already mentioned, the clinchers are the slight difference in roof line of the dwelling abutting the hotel, and the stairs from front door/s to the road which still remain and can be seen more clearly on google street view.

Old window style was much nicer though.  ;)

Beautiful outlook.

Thanks for your help folks.
I see that it is a pub now rather than a hotel.
