Farrell family Wrexham 1911 census
« on: Wednesday 29 March 23 17:13 BST (UK) »
Hi I have a family in Wrexham 1911 census,
Thomas Farrell & Harriet Farrell. They have 6 children wrote down on the census but two of them are stroked through with red pen .Thomas aged 3 and Annie aged 2. Further along it says 6 children born alive and two died. Does this mean they died before the census was done and shouldn't have been added by their parents. I have looked at births and deaths and the ones I have come up with died at 0yrs so not sure if they are right as no parents mentioned.
Thankyou for any information.

What was Harriets surname before she married.

It does look as though the 2 struck through were entered in error

I cannot locate an image of this form but it certainly sounds as if they had included all of their children  including two who were no longer living. It is not unusual to find examples where the individual filling in the form has misunderstood the instructions on the form. I have a case where a man has included his wife and children who were away on the night, and subsequently crossed their entries through, and others where “British” has been unnecessarily written down for nationality.
