Andrew MAITLAND of Borthwick's Close, Edinburgh

I had a look in some of the Edinburgh trade directories at https://digital.nls.uk/directories/ but found no mention of Andrew Maitland in any of the ones I looked at. I could of course have missed something.

I, too, have been ploughing thru' Scottish Directories without success. Cannot find him at "Borthwick's Close" (constantly one resident only listed), by occupation "Printer" or by "Name".

The index on SP gives Mary Jane's year of birth as 1845. FindMyPast has a transcription of this OPR and has I suspect mistakenly attributed her year of birth to that of her brother.

Yes, I think that's exactly it.  The actual entry gives Andrew born 1841 et Mary Jane born 1845 as I put in my original post.

My thanks for all the replies.  Unfortunately Andew Maitland senior still remains a mystery apart from his occupation.

** - Post Office Directories have Neill & Co at 10 Old Fishmarket Close.

Possibly Andrew's employer?
