Hello

I am hoping someone can help.

This article https://newspapers.library.wales/view/3330680/3330683/12/maesgwenllian gives a “legitimate” account of the below i.e. Bailiffs were due to come to Phillip Howells farm, Maesgwenlian, to take away possessions to pay for a a debt but that Rebecca Rioters ransacked it first. However, I have found reference to the below which describes all was not as it seems! However, I can’t find the original article, perhaps others can and please provide a link/transcription/screenshot of the article?

“Phillip Howells was Mayor of Kidwelly in 1843. The Bailiffs arrive to secure possession of his farm for debt. His son David pretends to summon "Becca" to drive them out. Sophia his daughter was aquitted, but Francis his wife? (his wife's name was actually Sarah per marriage 1812, but he did have another daughter Frances) of Phillip got 14 days. See Antiq. News Welshman July 20 1956”

There are other articles which describe him as insolvent and a bit of a drunkard, so the above would fit!

Thank you
