Photo Northampton

I have this photo which has on it left hand side the word looks like Watterns and on the right hand side Northampton.  don't know the era.
My understanding is Northampton is the place were the photo would have been taken, and Watterns the photographer.
any help would be much appreciated.

I must admit that I read this as Watterns too, but it is in fact Katterns, who I found at Mercer Row in  Kelly’s 1890 Northampton directory, but no longer listed by 1903.

I suspect that you are actually looking to date your photo by clothing style etc., in which case I think you might be better off asking a moderator to move it to the “Free Photo Restoration and Date Old Photographs” section (sorry, I don’t know how to advise you to do that).

I thought that I had posted the photo to now be dated to Photographic section, but may be I have done it all wrong.  Please advise

I'm not sure if I can help, however just to let you know that sometimes the photos placed on the Old Photographs board need to be approved by a moderator which may take a day of so, so won't appear straight away.

I did try several days ago with no reply.
Sorry! There is already an attachment with the same filename as the one you tried to upload. Please rename the file and try again. If there is I don't know were it is. not hear from a Moderator.

Oh, I assume you tried renaming the file - ie  not "jane walton.jpg" as this photo is?

Just a suggestion (which may not work). Try renaming it “Jane Walton in Northampton” and then have another try at uploading.
