JAMES KNOWLAND
« on: Friday 31 March 23 20:19 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone
I am doing some convict research at the moment on my ancestor JAMES NOWLAN/D as part of the project I am separating the 3 guys who were sent to NSW on board the "Coromandel" convict ship which arrived here (NSW) in 1804.

The one spelt KNOWLAND was tried in the Old Bailey in 1802 and apparently was in the NEW PRISON Clerkenwell.  The below is what I found from the records of this prison.

Does anyone know if this is possibly available online as I will like to see if this KNOWLAND is mentioned

Calendars of prisoners (gaps) 1730-1821 – MJ/CC/R/074-150.

Two of the guys JAMES NOWLAN sentenced LIFE 16 FEB 1803 (AGED 28) on the Coromandel

The other is spelt JAMES NEWLAND sentence to 7 YEARS 16 FEB (AGED 19) * NO NEWLAND ON OLD BAILEY TRIAL (possibly misspelt) Both NOWLAN AND NEWLAND on Prudentia Hulk at Woolwich.

The 19 year old one is my ancestor but I am collating information on all three just to make sure.  Any information gratefully received.  Kindest regards Dianna

Not online, I'm afraid.
The lists for 1801-1802 don't survive, but those for 1803 and 1804 do.
See the LMA catalogue listing, pp. 20-21
