Thanks heywood, comments noted.   I  researched this posting at length before asking for help.  'Present time or similar name'  while helpful appears to be a cul-de-sac.  I was hoping for a picture to capture children's homes in the dark days of pre-war.

There are pictures which are general of children’s homes which might add to the story.
The photo on the Gothic Hotel site is named ‘the homes’ and gives an indication of the ‘dark days’.

I was hoping that Three Ways School would be near the site of the  Cottages.

Again, not a photograph, however there is a nice article about a Christmas Party at Three Ways Cottages, Odd Down (Frome Rd) home for children in 1925,  1933 and 1935. Happy to send you a copy if you're interested.
