St Margaret's 262 Victoria Park Road
« on: Sunday 02 April 23 16:22 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace any information on behalf of my mother in law who was born on 25 June 1940 at St Margaret's, 262 Victoria Park Road, Hackney and was then adopted. We know her birth mother's name and that her address was canning town. Not sure if I can give the name or address, although I am sure her mother is more than likely deceased by now. Would just like further info as she has 2 children and there may be extended family we would like to get to know.  Thanks.

Hi there,

http://www.adoptionsearchreunion.org.uk/search/adoptionrecords/homeDetail.aspx?id=15
 - it looks like the location of records for St. Margaret's are unknown (not unusual for a lot of privately run women-and-baby homes).

DNA is often the best bet for these situations.
Another option is to look at the 1939 register for both the address you have in Canning Town, and the name you have for her birth mother in the Canning Town/Hackney area.
