10 Fillebrook Road, Leytonstone in 1921. Completed with many thanks
« on: Sunday 02 April 23 16:29 BST (UK) »
A person related to one of my family is living at the above address as a 'visitor'. The listing has her plus 10 teenage boarders and 2 servants.  She  has signed as the person completing the return.
Her husband and 2 daughters are living  in West Ham.

Does anyone know what it was - school, hostel, orphanage??

Thanks for any ideas, info., etc.

That snippet was from 16th November 1907, but I can see that Miss Hutt was still there into the 1920s, as she was advertising for teaching staff in various local newspapers in 1922.

Possible lead as the Head in 1911 was b.Scotland as was Beatrice.

Add - but was a 'credit draper' in 1901!

The principal of the school, Catherine Martha Hutt, was teaching at 52 Fillebrook Road in 1911?  ???

So it went from No.10 in 1907 then No.52 by 1911, then back to No.10 in 1921?

I can't actually find Miss Hutt in 1921.

Bit odd.

It's starting to sound like a 19th century dame school!

I saw that too, but then how was she advertising for teachers in the 1920s?
