Look up for birth of Ann Margaret Polhill c.1786 in India? please.

Help needed please.

I’m trying to find any information on the birth of Ann Margaret Polhill.

From 1851,1861, and 1871 censuses she was born about 1786 and her place of birth is variously given as India, East India or Bangladesh.

In 1811 she married Thomas Manning Foreman at St George the Martyr, Queen Square, Camden, London. Both are shown as ‘of this parish’ so I was wondering if there are any records for her journey to England.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are various newspaper reports February 1811 recording the marriage:

Lieut. Foreman of the 56th Regiment , to Miss Polhill, only daughter of the late Colonel Polhill of the Hon. East India Company's Service, Calcutta.

Cannot spot Ann but FindMyPast baptisms (India collection) has -

Cawnpore - Thomas John Polhill, bap 16 Jan 1788, parents Thomas Polhill and Ann his wife, Lieut in the honble? Company service.

There is a marriage in Bengal Presidency, India, on 4th October 1783 between a Thomas Polhill and Ann Smyth. Thomas is described as Lieutenant and Commander of the Governor General's Body Guard of Infantry in the Honourable (?) Company's Service.

At time of marriage Thomas was a Lieutenant in the Hon'ble Company and Commandant of of the Governor General's Body Guard of Infantry.
Place of marriage - Fort William.

FindMyPast has a 3 page inventory of Colonel Polhill's "sundry articles to be sold by Public Outcry, Allahabad, 2 Aug 1804".
Realised 1,164 Rupees

There are 7 probate records 1804-1810.

 Apologies for taking so long but thank you all for the information you have given me.

hanes teulu, could I ask you where you found the information on FindMyPast about the sale of Colonel Polhill’s goods and the 7 probate records?

 I was hoping to link Thomas Manning with some Foreman’s from Kent but it does not seem likely given all the military connections he had.  It’s a shame because Ann Smyth seems to be really interesting. It looks like she died age 95 in France, and was one of the ‘detenues’ of the emperor Napoleon.
