Frances Ives just vanishes
« on: Thursday 06 April 23 09:52 BST (UK) »
Good Morning
I'm doing a family tree for a friend and one aunt just seems to vanish.
The daughter of Robert Alfred and Emma Ives.
Frances Ives born 7th December 1914 is with her mother  Emma Ives nee Joannes until the 1939 Eletoral register at 114 Victoria Road Edmonton.
She then just disappears.
No mention in the family ,just gone.No mention in the family ,nothing
Any help appreciated.

Hello
No she is on the Electoral Register for 1939 but no sign of her on the 1939 index.
Her mother moves to Bideford Devon to be with her other daughter Vera Symons nee Ives but no sign of Frances.

I believe electoral registers were compiled from forms sent out in the November preceding the published year, so if Frances appears on 1939 electoral register but not the 1939 Register (compiled 29 September 1939) you have a 10 month time window for her disappearance.

For the 1939 Register not all were listed. I have a female who should be included and is not there, having also searched with birth date in England and Wales.

Servicemen weren't listed and I presume that applied to servicewomen. Maybe Frances joined up, but it would be quite early.
I have an aunt who doesn't appear on the 1939 register. She was born in 1916 so she shouldn't be redacted. She did join the ATS but not until sometime after the 1939 register. She should be in Berkshire. I can  only assume her date of birth has been mis-transcribed and she appears as less than 100 years old so is still redacted.

There's a will in the Ipswich registry.  Died 17 November 1998.  Probate 31 December 1998.  Worth a peep, I'd say.
