My Father now long deceased was at Dunkirk. Taken from the beaches at La Panne, Member of the BEF and the Northamptonshire Regiment.
I heard some of the stories of his escape, but he passed away before my interest in it became stronger.
Oh, how I would love 24 hours of his time now.

A remote cousin was one of the officers who organised the Little Ships. Seems he started the process before it was authorized on the basis that it was necessary.

My Dad was at Dunkirk. 5th Battalion Glosters. My two brothers and I took him back to De Panne/Dunkirk on the 60th anniversary, May 2000. The final organised anniversary parade. Thankfully prior to our visit I was able to purchase his WW2 medals and beret/badges. For him to wear. Sadly, he is no longer with us. But, I have his medals and beret/badges.

My Maternal Grandfather Leonard Ernest Warren was there.

Also my late Father in law Ron Holman, who on discovering that he was too late to escape from Dunkirk, commandeered a motorbike and drove to La Rochelle, where he was able to get on a Coal Steamer bound for England! We have his War Diary.

Romilly.
