Otago Mounted Rifles

I am researching the WW1 experiences of my Great Uncle, who served with the Otago Mounted Rifles. I had hoped to use his service record and Regimental War Diaries to track his movements through the War, but (as usual) the Service Record has only sketchy information; and the war Diaries that survive are illegible online.

I have purchased The Troopers' Tale, which is useful. But I am looking for any information on the OMR and their location, role, experiences on the Western Front.

If anyone has any help, it would be gratefully appreciated.

I don't have any specific knowledge about this unit, but I offer a few links to accounts you may not have already seen. Can I suggest you make a note of the various battles the OMR were engaged in, and then look at some more general histories of the First World War to gain a picture of the fighting and conditions under which these soldiers fought. For instance, the fifth link listed below, Everything Explained, includes some good descriptions of the individual engagements the OMR were involved in although they don't get mentioned by name that much.
